    New Delhi, 7th Jan: Several Delhi ministers, including Pravesh Verma and Manjinder Singh Sirsa, on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta seeking the termination of Leader of Opposition Atishi’s membership over her alleged remarks on Guru Tegh Bahadur.

    Speaking to reporters, Pravesh Verma said the comments had deeply hurt religious sentiments and demanded that her Assembly membership be cancelled. “Not only this House but every citizen of the country is pained and hurt by this. Our gurus sacrificed their lives to strengthen the integrity of the country, but their mockery was made by the opposition leader,” he said.

    The demand triggered massive protests inside the Delhi Assembly, with BJP legislators repeatedly trooping into the well of the House. Lawmakers insisted that Atishi should attend the session and said a censure motion would be brought against her.

    Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra claimed that Atishi used derogatory language while the House was discussing the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. “She must come to the Assembly. Just an apology won’t work,” he said.

    BJP MLA Harish Khurana also condemned the alleged remarks, saying that a censure motion would be introduced after due deliberation. Due to continued disruptions, the Assembly was adjourned for the day.

    Sikh committee members from Rakab Ganj Sahib Gurdwara also met Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta over the issue. Speaker Vijender Gupta said he has a transcript of Atishi’s remarks and called upon her to attend the House to explain, describing the comments as objectionable and unacceptable.

    New Delhi, 7th Jan: The Delhi Assembly witnessed chaotic scenes on Tuesday as BJP legislators accused Leader of Opposition Atishi of using “insensitive words” during a debate on the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, triggering loud protests and repeated disruptions in the House.

    The flashpoint occurred when AAP MLAs pushed for a discussion on Delhi’s worsening pollution levels while BJP members were speaking on the government’s programme marking the Sikh Guru’s martyrdom anniversary. Ministers Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ashish Sood and Kapil Mishra alleged that Atishi made inappropriate remarks that hurt religious sentiments and demanded an immediate apology.

    Although the exact words that triggered the uproar were not clear from available audio, Sirsa said any improper word used in reference to Guru Tegh Bahadur was unacceptable and required a public apology. Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta intervened, calling the issue sensitive and indicating that a censure motion could be brought after reviewing video footage.

    Minister Ashish Sood accused the opposition of trivialising the discussion by raising the pollution issue during the debate, adding that pollution was already scheduled to be discussed the following day.

    The Aam Aadmi Party later alleged that the BJP was deliberately disrupting the Assembly to avoid scrutiny over air quality. In a statement, the party said the government was unwilling to hold a serious debate on pollution and flagged the expulsion of AAP MLAs on the first day of the session as evidence of a pre-planned strategy to stifle the opposition.

    New Delhi, 26th Nov: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Joint General Secretary Arun Kumar paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 on the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He also offered prayers at the martyrdom sites of Bhai Sati Das, Bhai Mati Das and Bhai Dayal, who made supreme sacrifices alongside the Guru.

    Delhi Prant Sanghchalak Dr. Anil Agrawal and Prant Pracharak Vishal were also present during the visit.

    A Shaheedi Yatra from Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi to Gurdwara Anandpur Sahib is being undertaken to commemorate the historic event. The pilgrimage will pass through all the locations associated with the journey of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s sacred head.

    Arun Kumar formally flagged off the yatra today, marking the beginning of the commemorative journey that highlights the unparalleled sacrifice of the ninth Sikh Guru and his companions.

    New Delhi, 25th Nov: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah paid homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur on the 350th anniversary of his martyrdom, honouring the ninth Sikh Guru’s legacy as ‘Hind Ki Chadar’.

    In a message on X, the Home Minister bowed to Guru Tegh Bahadur and recalled his life of deep spiritual practice, sacred teachings and unwavering commitment to protecting India’s cultural and religious values.

    Shah said Guru Tegh Bahadur stood firmly against brutal invaders, fought for Kashmiri Pandits, challenged the tyranny of the Mughal regime and ultimately sacrificed everything for the defence of dharma.

    He said the Guru’s saga of courage, restraint, selflessness and devotion continues to inspire pride and strengthens the nation’s resolve to uphold freedom and safeguard its cultural heritage.
