    New Delhi, 5th Sept: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) rescued more than 3,800 children from child labour during its special Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation Campaign, conducted from June 12 to August 31, 2026.

    The campaign was launched to intensify the identification, rescue and rehabilitation of children engaged in child labour and those vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation. NCPCR coordinated with State Governments and Union Territory Administrations, District Magistrates, Labour Departments, Police authorities and other stakeholders.

    The Commission issued communications to concerned authorities seeking intensified and targeted rescue operations at child labour and trafficking hotspots. States and UTs were also asked to regularly submit data on rescued children, FIRs, rehabilitation, restoration, educational mainstreaming, compensation and other follow-up measures.

    NCPCR held meetings with district administrations to monitor implementation, address operational challenges, ensure timely submission of action taken reports and strengthen coordination among departments and agencies.

    The Commission also conducted awareness and outreach activities through social media and other communication platforms, highlighting mechanisms for reporting child labour and the importance of rehabilitation and educational mainstreaming after rescue.

    According to NCPCR, sustained monitoring and coordinated action with State authorities resulted in the rescue of over 3,800 children, while more than 575 FIRs were registered during the campaign.

    Kochi, 6th July: India on Monday commenced the two-day BRICS Women’s Working Group (WWG) Meeting in Kochi under its BRICS Chairship 2026, bringing together senior government officials from member countries to discuss women’s empowerment and strengthen cooperation.

    Welcoming the delegates, Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Anil Malik, said the meeting would promote meaningful dialogue, mutual learning and collaboration to advance women’s empowerment across BRICS nations.

    The discussions are centred on four priority areas under India’s chairship: women’s governance and leadership, digital and financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and skill development, and women’s role in climate action, food security and nutrition.

    Held under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” the meeting aims to build consensus on key outcomes ahead of the BRICS Women’s Ministerial Meeting, scheduled in Kochi on July 8-9.

    Empowering Governance: WCD Ministry Launches Cyber Awareness Drive

    New Delhi, 28th June: The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India, today organized a “Cyber Security Awareness Workshop” at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, to enhance digital resilience and cyber vigilance across its governance systems. The event marked the beginning of a national drive to raise cyber hygiene standards among ministry officials and associated bodies.

    Highlighting the critical importance of cybersecurity in governance, Shri Anil Malik, Secretary, MWCD, emphasized, “We live in a time when our work and communication are deeply integrated with digital platforms. As government functionaries handling sensitive data, it is essential that we remain vigilant and well-informed.” He urged participants to imbibe cyber awareness as a daily habit and not a one-time action.

    Officials from the Ministry, its subsidiaries, and autonomous bodies, including the National Commission for Women (NCW), Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), and Savitribai Phule National Institute for Women and Child Development, took part in the workshop.

    Top cybersecurity experts from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team), and PwC India provided insights into rising cyber threats and best practices. The sessions covered phishing attacks, portal security, data breaches, and cybercrime trends—arming attendees with practical knowledge and tools to secure digital assets.

    The workshop is part of a phased initiative. In its next leg, the Ministry plans to take cyber awareness and safety education to grassroots levels, reaching Anganwadi workers, frontline staff, and state-level stakeholders.

    The Ministry’s digital transformation journey—featuring initiatives like the Poshan Tracker, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, SHe-Box, and the Mission Shakti and Mission Vatsalya portals—has brought tech-led reforms to child and women welfare. With increasing digitisation, cyber hygiene has become crucial to protect sensitive data and sustain public trust.

    The workshop reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding digital systems and building a secure, transparent, and citizen-centric governance framework. As India marches toward its Amrit Kaal vision for a developed nation by 2047, MWCD aims to empower its ecosystem with tools and training for a digitally secure Viksit Bharat.
