New Delhi, 12th July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth in various central government departments via video conferencing, as part of the 16th Rozgar Mela held across 47 locations nationwide.
Addressing the new recruits, PM Modi emphasized the pivotal role India’s youth and democracy play in shaping the nation’s future. “The world acknowledges that India has two infinite powers — the largest democracy and the largest youth population,” he said, calling both the demography and democracy India’s unmatched assets.
India’s Employment Push
Lauding the Rozgar Mela initiative, the Prime Minister said it has created lakhs of permanent government jobs and now these young recruits are contributing to nation-building.
He also unveiled the Employment Linked Incentive Scheme, which offers ₹15,000 to first-time private-sector employees. With a budget of ₹1 lakh crore, the scheme is projected to create 3.5 crore new jobs.
PM Modi highlighted the growing startup and innovation ecosystem, saying it is “enhancing the capabilities of the youth” and positioning India as a hub of research and entrepreneurship.
Manufacturing at the Core
The Prime Minister declared manufacturing as a core strength of India, supported by the recently announced Mission Manufacturing in Budget 2025. He noted that mobile and electronics manufacturing has grown over fivefold in the past decade, with over 300 mobile units now operating, employing lakhs.
India has also emerged as a global leader in defence production, with output exceeding ₹1.25 lakh crore, and is now the largest locomotive producer in the world, he added.
Impact of Welfare Schemes
Referring to an ILO report, PM Modi said over 90 crore citizens have been brought under welfare coverage in the past decade. Schemes like PM Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat, Ujjwala, and Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana have not only improved living standards but also generated large-scale employment in rural and urban India.
He praised the empowerment of rural women through schemes like Namo Drone Didi, and added that 1.5 crore women have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’. Through initiatives like PM Vishwakarma and PM SVANidhi, street vendors, artisans, and traditional service providers are being mainstreamed economically.
Global Recognition
Citing recent international visits, PM Modi said global institutions like the World Bank are now praising India’s economic equality and employment-driven growth, and several bilateral agreements signed abroad will open new employment avenues in sectors like defence, pharma, energy, and rare earths.
Call to Action
Concluding his address, PM Modi described the current moment as a “Mahayagya of development” and urged the youth to move forward with the spirit of “Nagrik Devo Bhava” — treating every citizen as divine. He congratulated the new appointees, encouraging them to dedicate themselves to public service and national progress.
